What the Bible has to say:

James 1:13-14 (ESV) 

”13 Let no one say when he is tempted, ‘I am being tempted by God’, for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desires.”

Romans 8:28 (ESV)

28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,[a] for those who are called according to his purpose.”

The Lord gives two assurances regarding evil. First, His purpose is not for us to sin (James 1:13). He desires that we live with righteous intent so that evil finds no room in our hearts. Second, when we are touched by evil, He will make the situation work for our good (Rom. 8:28).
