There had been a hurricane just before they were to go and the plans for the trip were almost cancelled. They changed their original plans and completed the revised project and did some hurricane relief too. Grandpa was greatly blessed by the Mission Trip and soon after they got home, Grandpa started thinking more about the WWJD Movement. It had made the Mission Trip possible. It was then that Grandpa was introduced to "IN HIS STEPS" by Charles M. Sheldon.

Grandpa had grown up in his family business, Trigg Marine Supply.  He had been in business for over 25 years when he first read "IN HIS STEPS", little did he know it would change forever how Grandpa would look at being a business owner. Milton Wright was the business owner in the book. He took on the challenge of asking the question on pages 106-107:

“What Jesus would probably do in Milton Wright’s place as a business man…

1.    He would engage in the business first of all for the purpose of glorifying God, and not the primary purpose of making money.

2.    All Money that might be made he would never regard as his own, but as trust funds to be used for the good of humanity.

3.    His relations with all persons in his employ would be the most loving and helpful. He could not help thinking of all of them in the light of souls to be saved. This thought would always be greater than his thought of making money in the business.

4.    He would never do a single dishonest or questionable thing or try in any remotest way to get the advantage of anyone else in the same business.

5.    The principle of unselfishness and helpfulness in the business would direct all its details.

6.    Upon this principal he would shape the entire plan of his relations to his employees, to the people who were his customers and to the general business world with which he was connected.”

"Intelligent unselfishness ought to be wiser than intelligent selfishness, don't you think?"

How Grandpa was lead to this book:

In 1997 the Painesville District of the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church had sponsored a Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic. Grandpa was on the District Mission Team and he and his Pastor decided to to be part of the Team. They needed to raise support for the trip in the amount $2,000. Someone came up with the idea of beading and selling WWJD bracelets and necklaces. A small team including Grandpa and his Pastor beaded hundreds and hundreds of bracelets and other items. They were sold for $1.00 to $3.00 each.

It was going to take a lot of beading to hit their goal, then the idea of purchasing the WWJD rainbow bracelets. People loved them and were willing to pay more for them, $3.00 to $5.00. Some gave $20.00! Some just gave out of their heart for Christ and soon the goal had been met.!
